Over time your valves will lose their tone and their power. So a brand new set of valves will get your amp sounding like the day it left the factory. We always recommend JJ valves for the Vox Climax V125 amplifier. This is because they guarantee you get awesome tone and long life and they don’t cost a fortune.
Remember, JJ is one of only five valve manufacturers in the world. So don’t pay higher prices for valves from exactly the same factory that has simply been rebranded by other companies.
So restore the tone, the power and the sparkle to your guitar amplifier. Treat yourself to a brand new set of valves today.

VOX Climax V125 2 x 12 Combo and head versions:
At the 1980 British Music Fair, the VOX V125 was launched. Essentially, this is a modified AC120 in the form of a head that drives 2 x 12″ speaker cabinets with open backs. Soon other models appeared. There was a V125 Bass, a V15 valve combo, and the transistor Escort 50 Lead and Escort 50 Bass. A combo known as the Climax was also produced using a modified V125 chassis.
The electronics for the V125 came from circuits used in the AC-120 that Vox had introduced back in 1973. Although Vox’s literature from the time states that it had “pure valve power,” that’s not totally true. Two 2N3819 transistors were also used in the initial gain stage.
The valves used on this amp are two ECC83, one ECC82, one ECC81, and four EL34 power valves/power tubes.
(We have seen some documents saying that this amp uses six ECC83s. We have never seen that but it might be worth taking the back of your amp and checking before placing your order. Do let us know if you have a Climax with more than 2 x ECC83s so we can amend our listings).
The V125 Lead cabinet used two 12″ 80 watt Celestion speakers while the V125 Bass had a single 15″ Celestion speaker.
