About the Orange Thunderverb 50 amp:
The Orange Thunderverb 50 is the amp for every occasion. Whether you need a clean channel and a dirty channel, two clean channels or two dirty channels. Everything from lush reverb-laden cleans, Classic Rock punch to full-on Metal gain. They’re all available on both channels, each with three stages of gain and master volume controls.
Sharing the same front panel layout as the 200W version, the Orange Thunderverb 50 has a slightly sweeter character. This is due to its lower output and pair of EL34 valves. So it’s ideal for those who prefer the sound and feel of a 50 Watt head.
Channel A is equipped with a three-band EQ while Channel B features Orange’s popular and hugely capable Shape control. Turning fully clockwise produces an aggressive ‘smiley face’ EQ with scooped mids and boosted lows and highs.
At the other extreme, you’ll find smooth, rounded treble with striking, prominent mids. So tonally, this means ultra modern Metal to vintage Rock and everywhere in between. The foot-switchable attenuator is located after the master volume controls but before the output transformer. This ensures the amp always retains a springy response, even at whisper quiet volumes.
Finally, let’s sum up this lovely amp. All in all, a very versatile head that you can use for home, studio or gigging. It comes with massive amounts of flexibility and tonal variation. Connect it to the right cab and you get a truly awesome, punchy sound.
So, if you’re looking for great sounding valves for your Orange amplifier -you’ve come to the right place.
