About the amp
We love this amp with a passion.
It is a tremendous little amp for saturated tube tones at low volume and quality is surprisingly high. It comes fitted as standard with 2 x JJ ECC83 valves which are ideal for most players.
However, some players will like to calm down the bottom-end response, get a bit more headroom and achieve a bit more touch sensitivity at the same time. This is easily done by swapping the JJ ECC83 in V2 position for a JJ ECC82.
If on the other hand, you want a more edgy distortion, with more output, then try a JJ ECC81 in the V2 position.
Both of these valves are extremely cheap and this is a great way of experimenting to see which sound is best for you. You will see we offer all of these valves for sale at the bottom of this page. Please note, we would not describe these changes as “modifications”. They are perfectly safe alternatives and are endorsed by the amp designer himself.
