Vox AC10C1
Looking for great sounding valves for Vox AC10C1 amplifier? You’ve come to the right place.
Valves for Vox AC10C1 amplifier.
The Vox AC10C1 amplifier uses:
- 1 x ECC83 (also known as a 12AX7) preamp valve (V2)
- 1 x Balanced ECC83 for the phase splitter position (V3)
- 2 x matched EL84 power valves/power tubes (V1 and V4)
The balanced valve goes in what Vox call the V3 position, which, of the two preamp valves, is the one furthest from the input jack. Note, this amp only has two preamp valves, one in V2 and one in V3 on the circuit diagram (see layout below). That might sound odd but it’s because the first valve in the chain on this amp is solid state.
These valves guarantee awesome tone and power and are a significant upgrade in quality. You can order them singly, the power valves as matched pairs or a complete set. However, we always recommend that you swap all your valves at the same time. It’s a small price to pay to get your amp sounding like new again.

What our customers think of these valves:
“OK – so I was hoping for a slight lift (in quality when I bought these valves!). Initially, the volume boost was a nice surprise – but after playing for a while with cleans through to hard-core, with a little blues in-between, what I got from these tubes was a transformation in every department (I mean bass, tone ‘n’ mids) ….. I am so glad I bought these valves. Five stars!”

Vox AC10C1 Overview:
The Vox AC10 was one of the first amplifiers to bear the VOX name. It has long been admired for its ability to achieve a rich, articulate tube tone at manageable volumes. After they discontinued production in 1965 the AC10 became a legendary part of VOX history.
Not surprisingly, in 2015, VOX introduced the AC10C1, a modern take on this classic amplifier. So more portable than the AC15, and more powerful than the AC4, the AC10C1 features the classic Top Boost tone circuit that provides an array of classic and modern tones.
Now equipped with reverb and a master volume, the AC10C1 is the perfect companion for the home, studio or the stage.
Main Features of The Vox AC10C1:
- 10-Watts of valve power and tone.
- Studio-quality reverb.
- The superior tone of a 1 × 10-inch Celestion VX10 speaker.
- Finally, don’t forget this amp is lightweight and portable.
The AC10C1 is equipped to produce that perfect Vox ‘chimey’ tone. With the gain control set low, you get a rich warm clean sound. Now add in some more gain and it soon starts to venture into a creamy overdrive territory that Vox is so well known for.
