The Fender 57 Deluxe amplifier uses:

  • 1 x ECC83 preamp valve (also called 12AX7).
  • 1 x Balanced ECC83 preamp valve for the phase inverter (in position V2).
  • 2 x 6V6S matched power valves/power tubes. V3 and V4.
  • 1 x 5Y3S rectifier valve (V5).

We also offer a low gain option which replaces the ECC83/12AX7 in the V1 position with a 12AY7 instead. This low gain option reduces the gain by around 50% and is perfect for those who want more headroom and a quieter amp.

THE ORIGINAL VERSION:

The Fender “57 Deluxe” was originally a circuit, the 5E3, that was in production from 1957 to 1963. The kit listed above is correct for this amplifier.

REISSUES:

Fender ’57 Deluxe: In 2007, Fender’s Custom Shop released a hand-wired, point-to-point reissue based on the 1957 specifications. It used the exact same valves so the kit listed above is also correct for this amplifier.
Fender ’57 Custom Deluxe: Starting in 2016, Fender offered another version, the ’57 Custom Deluxe, which was also based on the 5E3 design but with some modern additions. This amp uses a 12AY7 in the V1 position. Click on the link if you need this valve kit.
