Blackstar HT5R
Valves for Blackstar HT5R Amplifier.
The Blackstar HT5R amplifier uses:
- 1 x ECC83 (also called 12AX7) preamp valve.
- 1 x 12BH7 or 12BH7A power valve.
Please note, the Blackstar HT5, HT5R, HT5R Mark II, HT5H, HT5TH and HT Metal 5 all use the exact same valves but the amps are voiced slightly differently.
Please note that the 12BH7A or 12BH7 power valve is one of the few valves that come in two different sizes. Please check the size of your power valve before you order. The EH 12BH7 valve is slightly taller (57 mm excluding pins) than the JJ version (50 mm excluding the pins).
Over time your valves will lose their tone and their power. A brand new set of valves will get your amp sounding better than ever.

About this Blackstar amp.
Following the same design of the 5C, the Blackstar HT5R adds stereo reverb, modelled on the Blackstar HT Venue Series. It is perfect for both live and studio recording. It also features dedicated EQ on the clean channel and distortion channel.
A custom-designed 12″ speaker delivers great tone and power. The patented ISF control’ also allows you to shape the guitar tone to suit your own needs.
The Blackstar HT-5R takes the HT-5C’s proven formula and adds reverb to the mix. So, if you’re already a fan of Blackstar amps and the HT-5 series, there’s a lot to like about this amp.

To access the valves in your Blackstar HT5R combo amp, simply remove the six small screws on the back panel—three on each side. Do not remove the four large screws, as they secure the chassis to the back panel (or the back panel to the amp circuitry). After removing the small screws, disconnect the speaker lead, then lift the panel straight up and out.
Always unplug the amp and allow it to cool before working inside, and be cautious of high voltages even when powered off, as capacitors can retain charge. If in doubt, contact your local amp technician.
