Valves for 1963 Watkins V Front Dominator amplifier

V Front Dominator

Best valves for Watkins/WEM V Front Dominator amplifier

The Watkins/WEM V Front Dominator (MkI and MkII) amplifier uses:

  • 3 x 12AX7 preamp valves (also called ECC83).
  • 2 x Matched EL84 power valves/power tubes.
  • 1 x EZ81 rectifier valve.

Important notes on the rectifier valve:

Very early models used a EZ80 and not an EZ81. Please check what is inside your amp before ordering.

In the early 1970s the MkIII was issued and this version dropped the rectifier valve altogether and replaced it with solid state circuitry. So if you have a MkIII you do not need the EZ81 valve.
