Mesa Boogie Badlander 50
Best valves for Mesa Boogie Badlander 50
The MesaBadlander 50 amplifier (both the head and combo) uses:
- 4 x ECC83 preamp valves (also called 12AX7).
- 1 x Balanced ECC83 for the phase inverter (in position V5).
- 2 x EL34 matched power valves/power tubes.
Note: The balanced ECC83 goes in the V5 position, which is the preamp valve furthest from your input jack. These valves are specifically biased for this amplifier so you do not need to adjust the bias when you swap valves.
A brand-new set of valves will get your amp sounding better than ever.
We always recommend JJ valves for this amplifier. This is because they guarantee you get awesome tone and long life and they don’t cost a fortune.
Remember, JJ is one of only five manufacturers in the world. So don’t pay higher prices for valves from the same factory that have simply been rebranded by other companies.

What Mesa say about this amp
“Delivering a sonic and weight profile that’s a bit more trim, the Rectifier® Badlander™ 50 holds its own while adding a distinct tonal character to the Badlander Series. Even more aggressive sounding, yet with an inviting, effortless feel, it’s buffed and ready to go places where less output power is the call.
Two identical Channels feature the same 3 new dynamic and duplicated Modes as its 100-Watt counterpart. CLEAN, CRUNCH and CRUSH repeated supply the gain, shaping power and an urgent personality to navigate most ensemble and virtually any recording environments”
