About the Marshall 1959HW amplifier:
The Marshall 1959HW is a hand-wired, accurate reissue of the legendary 100 Watt Super Lead from 60 years ago. It was released in 2000. Being a non-master-volume amp, it has sweet, responsive gain when driven hard, just like the originals.
In addition, to make the amp sound as authentic as possible, Marshall used original thickness, original pitch matrix and point to point tag boards.
The transformer is an extremely important part of the Marshall 1959HW. So in order to capture the golden tone, Marshall worked closely with Dagnall to recreate the famous later-era ‘Plexi’ power transformer.
They took the best features from earlier ‘Plexis’ and the later ‘Plexis’. The idea was to make a modern alternative that’s the best of both worlds.
