The ENGL E840 power amplifier uses:

  • 1 x ECC83 preamp valves (also called 12AX7).
  • 2 x Balanced ECC83 for the phase inverter (in positions V2 and V3).
  • 4 x 5881 matched power valves/power tubes.

Note: The balanced ECC83s go in the V2 and V3 positions. The V1 is the preamp valve closest to your input jack.,
