The Burman Pro 501 amplifier uses: 

  • 4 x ECC83 preamp valves (also called 12AX7). 
  • 1 x ECC83 Balanced preamp valve. 
  • 1 x ECC81 for the Reverb stage. 
  • 2 x KT77 matched power valves/power tubes. 

 Note: The balanced ECC83 goes in the V5 position which is the preamp valve furthest from your input jack.

About the amp

This amp was hand built in Newcastle during the 1970s and 1980s. Given huge credibility when used by Thin Lizzy in preference to any other amp.

This a hand-wired high gain amp delivering 50 watts of power.  Very high specification build and it features active mid control and cascaded gain controls for a vast range of tones.
