This superb replacement valve kit for the Fender Hotrod Deluxe amplifier comprises:

• 2 x Selected Premium Grade JJ ECC83 (also known as 12AX7) preamp valves.
• 1 x Selected Premium Grade JJ Balanced ECC83 for the phase splitter which is in position V3.
• 2 x Selected Premium Grade JJ 6L6GC matched power valves/power tubes.

This valve kit fits the original amp, the MKII, the MKIII and the MKIV versions.

The balanced valve goes in the V3 position which is the preamp valve furthest from the input jack. see our FAQ section for more details.

About the Fender Hotrod Deluxe

The Hot Rod Deluxe is a 40-watt single 12″ combo-the standard for gigging guitarists worldwide. Famous for the low-end headroom characteristic of 6L6 tubes and a versatile all-12AX7 tube preamp, it also boasts luscious Fender spring reverb, an effects loop and more.

Fender approaches its series effects loop with two jacks titled Preamp Out and Power Amp In. So think of them as a send and return respectively.
You haven’t heard clean until you’ve heard it from a 6L6-equipped Fender amp, and short of the hand-wired Custom stuff, this is as good a place as any to get it.

The Deluxe’s normal channel has all the shimmer to make single-coils sparkle, but it’s the room-filling bass, coupled with the slightly “scoopy” mid-range that completes this sound.

Reducing the power of your Fender Hot Rod Deluxe

If you need to reduce the power of your amp, simply add a 12AY7 to your order and use this in the V1 position instead of the stock 12AX7. (That’s the preamp valve position closest to the guitar input jack).

The 12AY7 will reduce the gain of your amp by 50% but it will not alter the tone.

When you need to put the amp back to full power simply pop the 12AX7 back in place.

The spare 12AX7 is extremely useful for trouble-shooting any sound problems and very handy if a preamp valve suddenly fails on you. It will never go to waste as the 12AX7 (and the 12AY7) fits every valve amp ever made.
