The Laney Cub 12 amplifier uses 3 x ECC83 (also known as 12AX7) preamp valves and 2 x EL84 matched power valves/power tubes.
Note: The Laney Cub 12R uses the exact same valves.
We always recommend JJ valves for the Laney Cub 12 amplifier. This is because they guarantee awesome tone and power.
We strongly advise you to change all your valves at the same time. It’s a small price to pay to get your amp sounding like new again.
So go on – bring back the power and sparkle to your guitar amplifier. Treat yourself to a brand new set of valves today.

The Laney Cub 12 houses a 12″ driver, giving it an increased volume and full rich valve tone. Just by looking at the preamp, you can see that the Laney CUB 12 packs more into the amp than its smaller siblings.
Features include Gain, Treble, Middle, Bass, Volume, Tone and Reverb controls. The output section of the Laney CUB 12 is based on a pair of EL84 valves. So this means masses of rich overdrive with plenty of gain.
The Laney Cub 12 features two input sockets one labelled 15W the other labelled less than one watt. Plug into the “less than one watt” and the Laney CUB 12 delivers great valve tone but you won’t annoy the neighbours. This less-than-one-watt option allows you to drive the power amp section really hard giving you all that lovely power amp distortion.
