Why don’t you sell Mesa Tubes for this amplifier?

The reason we don’t sell Mesa tubes is that Mesa doesn’t make amplifier tubes. They simply buy them from the main five manufacturers, of which JJ is one, and then rebrand them. We think they are overpriced.

However, what Mesa do promise is their valves are perfectly matched and biased so you don’t have to rebias the amp. That’s great – and we guarantee that too, but without the hefty markup because we buy directly from the valve manufacturer.

About the amp.

The Mark V is really a collection of amplifiers. There are far too many circuits and sounds to think of it as merely an amp.

It is also a living history of our company. From the groundbreaking MARK I that introduced the world to high-gain with its cascading preamp, to the Mark II – the world’s first high gain Dual Mode Channel Switching amplifier and its later siblings that introduced Simul-Class power.

From the MARK III that ushered in the era of 3 Channel foot-switching performance, to the MARK IV which gave all this power individual control, the MARK V is the embodiment of the last 40 years of guitar amp history.

Simul-Class Power Amp featuring Multi-Watt and Duo-Class technologies provide three power and three operating class options. These are channel assignable via 10/45/90 Watt Power Switches.

So you can choose 2 power tubes operating in vintage Class A (single-ended) mode, producing 10 Watts. Or 2 tubes running in time-honoured Class A/B producing 45 Watts. Or 4 tubes running in Mesa’s legendary, patented Simul-Class Power that blends the best of Class A and Class A/B simultaneously.

This means 90 Watts of pure tonal magic / 4 x 6L6GC (or 4 x EL34), 7 x ECC83, 1 x 5U4GB.
