About the Laney LC15R amp:
The Laney LC15R sets the standard. It may look like a baby, but it sounds like a real mother. 15 watts RMS of pure EL84 tone into a 10″ Custom-designed driver produces unadulterated pure valve tone.
The LC15R uniquely combines pre/post gain control, which allows you to get great sparkling clean tones. With full-on, out & out gain or any point in between by simply turning a single rotary control.
The Laney LC15R all-valve amp has been in production for around 16 years. Up until around 2002, the Laney LC15R comes with a 10″ HH invader driver and post 2002 come with a 10″ Celestion speaker. The older HH invader is superb for playing screaming blues-rock.
Considering it is rated at 15 watts this amp is surprisingly loud.
Reviews:
One reviewer said: “I just took delivery of a used/like new Laney LC15r 1×10 combo amp. This one is about 1 year old. I was in the market for something small and compact with a good clean/dirty sound. How unusual huh… I had at one time a peavey classic 20, Carvin v16 and have played a Fender pro/blues Jr, Dr. Z mini, and a Gibson Les Paul Jr amp.
Of all these amps the Laney seems to excel over all these IMO in regard to price, features and tone. I am surprised this little amp isn’t talked about more. The reverb is so-so but what would you expect for a relatively inexpensive amp?
The drive is nice and crunchy and does not get fizzy even when pushed and surprisingly the cleans sound pretty good through the single 10″ Celestion. For those in the market for a small good sounding/looking lower wattage combo you should definitely check one out if you can.”
