Valves for Fender Musicmaster Silverface Bass

The Fender Musicmaster Silverface bass 1§2W amplifier uses:

  • 1 x ECC83 (also called 12AX7) preamp valve.
  • 2 x 6V6S matched power valves/power tubes.

Note, some versions of this amp use 6AQ5 power valves. These are much smaller than the 6V6S valve so you need to check your amp before you order. Any questions just get in touch and we can help.

Over time your valves will lose their tone and their power. A brand new set of valves will get your amp sounding like new again. We always recommend JJ valves for this amplifier. This is because they guarantee you get an awesome tone and long life and they don’t cost a fortune.

Remember, JJ is one of only five valve manufacturers in the world. So don’t pay higher prices for valves from the same factory that have simply been rebranded by other companies.

Order your valves below and hear the difference.

Valve layout for Fender Music Master Bass 12 watt

About the amp:

The CBS-era Fender ‘Silverface’ Musicmaster Bass amps (MMB) were manufactured between 1970 and 1982.

These are rapidly being appreciated as fantastic little 12 watts, 1×12” valve combo amps.

They stick to the familiar Fender branding with an open back cabinet, black Tolex, silver grille cloth, ‘Made in the USA’ raised chrome logo, the silver control panel with blue lettering and the iconic red jewel light.

The MMB was originally sold by Fender as a beginner’s bass amp. however, the quality is now very appreciated by serious musicians and it has kept its price well.

Yes it’s a smaller amp but the sound is great, it doesn’t take up an enormous amount of room and doesn’t do your back in every time you lift it.
